Volunteer
Central to a quality residential program is the involvement of many caring adults who are willing to share their gifts and interests with the youth in care. These experiences expose our residents to new creative outlets, career options and healthy lifestyle choices. Even more importantly, the active participation of volunteers lets our residents know that there are people in the world who care about them.
We're open to whatever level of involvement is right for you. Some suggestions:
-
Guide an activity with the residents, especially on weekends. Examples include cooking, sports, "how to change a flat tire," sewing, woodworking. Any talent that you have to share would be a valuable experience for our residents. (One time or monthly)
-
Provide tutoring on a variety of academic subjects (2-3 hours/week).
-
Provide gifts and a celebration of resident birthdays (once a month).
-
Provide art instruction to the residents
-
Take groups of residents to dinner or an event, exposing them to unique activities and modeling appropriate behaviors.
-
Create welcome packages for new residents.
-
Help meet administrative needs in the office (weekly, as needed)
-
Host a friend-raising or fund raising event (anytime!)
-
Serve on committees that further our mission (development, golf, program, etc.).
